Electronic power-supply for high-pressure lamps

This paper describes the principle functions of high pressure sodium and metal halide lamps. Electronic control circuit involves specific feaures (dimming effect). The proposal is implemented with emphasis on high efficiency and high power factor. An important factor in the proposal is also possibility to connect a many types of high-pressure discharge lamps with different electrical properties. The output inverter operates in resonant mode at high frequency and it is controlled by a microprocessor. It is powered by a bridgeless buck power factor correction.

The goal of this diploma’s thesis is to inform about present development of light sources, new technologies and about achieved parameters of these light sources. The thesis is mainly directed to describe efficiency of transformation electric energy to light at single types of light sources. There are described the concrete technical parameters of sources quoted by manufacturers and the contructional solution of single types of light sources. There is created a graphic comparation of electrotechnical and light parameters of the light sources.
Electronic ballast for sodium lamp

The aim is to get acquainted with the way the management and regulation of sodium lamps. This knowledge is then applied to design your own gear. The introductory section describes the basic characteristics of discharge light sources. Their behavior was verified by measuring and findings were used to create diagrams, mainly the control circuit. Theoretical design is developed by individual functional parts of the inverter.

The Bachelor´s Thesis goal is the realization of lamp ballast for a hot cathode fluorescent lamp (HCFL). These lamps are now widely produced in the performance of units to tens of watts. They are also used in the manufacture of energy saving lamps which are used for direct replacement of incandescent light bulbs. The lamp ballasts are produced as a separate unit for existing lights too. Main advantage of lamp ballast is higher efficiency and realization other functions i.e. dimming.
